CM Cunningham was elected to bring to life a bold, progressive vision of a green, healthy, safe and prosperous community in Ward 4 by working hard and centering Northside voices. He has been tasked by the community to build community wealth and serve the people of the 4th Ward with excellence. He has made significant progress in his promises to constituents.

His work and leadership are focused on seven key areas that are based on community feedback, academic research, and progressive values:

  1. Neighborhood safety

  2. Stable, attainable housing

  3. A strong local economy

  4. Youth engagement

  5. Protecting the rights of children, families, workers and renters

  6. Northsiders leading on decisions that impact the Northside

  7. Strengthening our community fabric

  8. High-quality constituent services

All of the work done in the Ward 4 Office is through the lens of environmental justice and racial equity.  Historically, the relationship has been strained between the community and municipal government because the City has made decisions on behalf of and without community.

CM Cunningham is committed to a co-governance approach to representing the 4th Ward and has taken serious action to change the way the City does business when it comes to how it serves the Northside. In the Ward 4 office, we strive for excellence in constituent services, community development, community engagement, and policymaking. CM Cunningham has very high standards for how the City of Minneapolis serves the 4th Ward and is very responsive and compassionate to constituent concerns. His constituents know they can rely on him and the Ward 4 Office.

Building community wealth and intergenerational peace and prosperity is our core mission. Right now, our office is driving community development through improving the quality of Ward 4’s housing stock and growing a strong local economy. We are also focusing heavily on violence prevention and intervention and youth opportunities.

CM Cunningham is very accessible and engaged and has open community office hours twice per week where any constituent can drop by and meet with him.
